Who writes this, and why

Dubai Car Inspection is a guide to buying a used car in the UAE. It exists because the questions that decide whether a used car purchase goes well are mostly not questions about cars. They are questions about paperwork, finance, tolls, insurance and process, and the answers are scattered across forums, out-of-date blog posts and government pages written for somebody who already knows the vocabulary.

Everything here is written for a reader who is about to spend a large amount of money and does not work in the motor trade.

The disclosure

This site is published by the team behind InspectMotors, a pre-purchase car inspection company operating in the UAE. That is a commercial interest and it shapes what we are qualified to write about, so we say it on every page rather than in the small print.

What it means in practice:

• Where an article recommends a pre-purchase inspection, it is recommending something we sell. It is marked as such on the page.
• Where a competitor is genuinely better for a particular buyer, the article says so and names them.
• Nothing on this site is a paid placement. We do not take money from other companies to be listed, rated or reviewed here.
• Facts that cost you money (fees, tolls, processes) are dated, and you should confirm them with the relevant authority before acting.
